In the note, Enel highlights that the wind gusts reached a maximum of 82.8 km/h, being the first time since 2006 that the city of São Paulo recorded such a long sequence of winds above 70 km/h. Enel adds that since the start of the storm, 3.1 million customers have regained their energy supply.
“Adverse weather conditions had a significant impact on restaurant operations as persistent gusts caused further outages as crews worked to reconnect customers,” the company said in a statement.
This Friday, the São Paulo court ordered the immediate restoration of electricity supply to the areas affected by the outage. The decision, as an emergency measure, sets a fine of R$200,000 per hour in case of non-compliance by Enel. In the note published this Saturday announcing that it hopes to resolve the problem by Sunday, the company does not mention the decision.
