Eric Wildberger announces the departure of Classic Physique to the Open Championship – 05/12/2025 – Muscle

Eric Wildberger announced today, Thursday (4), via a video clip he posted on the official Max Titanium YouTube channel, that he is no longer a classic Physique bodybuilder. With more than 20 kg over the maximum weight category, the athlete will move to the Open Championship.

Wildberger is 1.87 meters tall, and according to the rules of the “IFBB Pro League” (International Federation of Professional Bodybuilding and Fitness League, which means the Professional Fitness League of the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness), he can reach a maximum weight of 109.8 kg to compete in the Classic division. He said in a post on Instagram that his weight this week reached 130 kilograms.

On the weigh-in day of the last edition of Olympia, the athlete went through a drama – after not meeting the required weight and height standards, he had to lose about 3.7 kg in a few hours. In the video posted by the nutritional supplement company that sponsors him, the bodybuilder claims he doesn’t want to “do crazy things” to lose weight.

“There are no limits to food,” he adds. However, according to the athlete himself, staying at this weight and having to slow down his fitness progress means that he will no longer be able to compete in this category.

With three Olympia appearances and four professional titles under his belt, Wildberger was one of the best Brazilian bodybuilders in Classic Physique. The athlete obtained his “pro card” as a men’s physique athlete in 2018. In other words, once he makes his debut in the new division, he will become the first Brazilian to participate in three different categories of the IFBB Pro League.
