Eurostar suspended its rail services crossing the Channel on Tuesday to and from London until further notice after a power supply problem in the tunnel linking Great Britain and France.
“There was a power supply problem … in the Channel Tunnel,” a Eurostar spokesperson explained in statements to AFP, “which means that all connections to or from London are suspended until further notice, pending the situation being resolved.”
It is not known how many passengers were affected by the disruption, which occurred during peak season and on one of Europe’s busiest international rail corridors.
Eurostar trains leave London They serve Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and Disneyland Paris.
In a statement posted on its website and reported by Reuters, the high-speed train operator initially warned passengers that they could experience serious delays. He also recommended that they postpone their trip to another date and only go to the station if they already had a ticket.
British media report that six trains were suspended this Tuesday afternoon, while others are experiencing delays.
