
The storm of rain and wind which hits the province of Malaga, and which gave rise to the Aemet red notice until 4 a.m. this morning, caused flooding in some municipalities in the most affected areas and large floods in rivers, such as the Guadalhorce, which exceeded 5.5 meters.
One of the most affected towns was Cártama, as usually happens when torrential rains fall in the Guadalhorce Valley, with flooded streets in the neighborhoods of Doña Ana and Estación de Cártama, neighborhoods that even They have become incommunicado.
The Guadalhorce River, which crosses this municipality, recorded a significant flood in a few hours, exceeding 5.5 meters, and had even deviated from its trajectory around 11:00 p.m.
The mayor of the town, Jorge Gallardothen ordered to inform residents of areas that could be affected, so that they would be alerted to the flooding that was occurring.
In the capital Malaga, numerous teams of local police, firefighters and civil protection intervened at night, reinforcing surveillance in the areas of Campanillas, Churriana and Cádiz highway.
In addition, troops were sent to the vicinity of the Guadalhorce River, due to its rapid flooding, to alert the surrounding population.
Civil Protection has recommended, through the sound system of its vehicles, to the residents of Santa Amalia (Campanillas) that went up to the upper floors of their house as a precautionary measure.
Some of these neighbors they evacuated the houses and moved in with relatives. In addition, the City Council has allowed accommodation in the El Romeral neighborhood association, in Alhaurín de la Torre, the closest safe area.
The rains also forced divert to nearby airports many flights that were due to arrive at Malaga airfield.
The storm, even accompanied by hail in many areas, affected other municipalities such as Monda, Corner, Alhaurín el Grande or the coast of the western Costa del Sol, mainly Marbella.
The storm continues to keep the province of Málaga on orange alert and is currently visible in the Axarquía region, with intense rains in municipalities such as Rincón de la Victoria or Vélez-Málaga.
The Axarquia will be on orange notice until 2:59 p.m. this Sunday, due to accumulated rain of up to 80 liters per square meter in twelve hours.

The intense rains left maxima of 130 liters per square meter in twelve hours in the Guadalhorce Valley and a historic flood of the Guadalhorce River during its passage through Cártama.
The point where the most precipitation was recorded, 130 litersis located in Fahala, a river that flows between Alhaurín el Grande and Cártama and is a tributary of the Guadalhorce River.
