Thiago Silva is on the verge of success as Porto have started to win. The story is starting to take shape behind the scenes less than a week after the 41-year-old terminated his contract with Fluminense. According to the Italian press, the Portuguese club is in advanced negotiations to be the main reinforcement in the reopening of the European football transfer window.
Shortly after announcing his departure from the club, following the elimination of Vasco in the Brazilian Cup, Thiago expressed the continuity of his career, with the clear intention of returning to European football, since his family lives in London.
Porto have started to view signing a defender as a priority, especially given the absence of Nehuén Pérez, who is recovering from a serious Achilles tendon injury. In this scenario, the club began to consider Thiago Silva as a safe alternative, with a short-term contract and the ability to immediately adapt to the team.
Stint for the Porto B team early in his career
The connection between Thiago Silva and the Portuguese club is not new. At the start of his professional career, the player was used by the Dragons B team in the 2004/05 season, where he played just over ten matches before moving to Dynamo Moscow.
Throughout his career, the defender has built a history of great importance in international football. Remarkable spells at Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, winning 31 titles. Among them the Champions League, the Club World Cup, six editions of the French Championship and the Italian Championship.
In addition, the leadership shown on and off the field allowed the Brazilian team to receive the armband. For the national team, 113 matches and seven goals were recorded, as well as the Copa América and Confederations Cup titles.
Throughout the 2025 season, he played 46 matches for Fluminense, scoring four goals, which strengthened the positive assessment of the athlete in the market.
