This Saturday, Esporte Clube Vitória opened a new chapter in its political history by confirming the re-election of Fábio Mota as club president. The election, carried out in Barradão, brought together thousands of members and ended with a significant victory for the current president, who will continue to lead the institution for another three years, between 2026 and 2028. The inauguration is immediate, guaranteeing the administrative and sporting continuity of the work started in 2021.
Representative of the Leão Colossal list, Fábio Mota had vice-president Djalma Abreu as his running mate. Together they obtained a margin of votes considered historic in the red and black scenes, massively defeating the opposing list, Aliança Vitória SAF, led by Marcone Amaral, which had Kito Magalhães as vice-president. The result consolidated a scenario of political stability in the Bahian club, which is rare in recent decades.
With 5,147 valid votes counted, Fábio Mota obtained 85.95% of members’ preferences, while Marcone Amaral obtained 14.05%. The difference not only ensured re-election, but also established the highest percentage ever recorded in a presidential election in Vitória, strengthening support for the current leadership among members eligible to vote.
VITÓRIA CONSECRATES THE ADMINISTRATIVE COMMUNITY
Shortly after the result was officially announced, Fábio Mota celebrated the election result and highlighted the symbolism of the vote. According to the director, this significant advantage represents more than an electoral triumph, but the validation of a project started in one of the most delicate moments in the recent history of the club. “This result is the greatest victory in the history of Vitória. It gives us more strength and motivation to continue on the path. The truth has prevailed,” declared the re-elected president, in an emotional tone.
This Saturday’s election also marked an unprecedented feat in more than a decade. Vitória has not re-elected a president since 2010, when Alexi Portela managed to be re-elected to this post. Fábio Mota, in turn, assumed the interim presidency in October 2021, after the departure of Paulo Carneiro, taking effect in May 2022. His first direct election took place in September of the same year, making this new mandate a stage of political consolidation.
Defeated in the protest, Marcone Amaral adopted a conciliatory speech when commenting on the result. The Aliança Vitória SAF candidate made himself available to collaborate with the club, even outside the presidency, and stressed that he would continue to work in public life. “I make myself available for whatever is necessary to help the club. In 2026 I will continue as a state deputy. I have a trip to Qatar. If Vitória wants me to help, I will be available”he declared.
POLITICAL TRAJECTORY AND ACHIEVEMENTS IN FOOTBALL
Lawyer, historian and breeder, Fábio Mota has a degree in civil procedure and has a well-established career in public management. Before assuming the presidency of Vitória, he worked in three departments of Salvador City Hall, including the departments of Culture and Tourism, Urban Planning and Transport, in addition to the Municipal Secretariat for Mobility. This administrative experience is often highlighted by allies as a differentiator of his management at the club.
On a sporting level, the period under the command of Fábio Mota is marked by relevant results. In four years, Vitória won two national promotions and guaranteed two stays in Serie A of the Brazilian Championship, restoring the club to its place on the national scene. Among the main titles, the most notable are the victory of the Brazilian Serie B in 2023 and the Campeonato Baiano in 2024, trophies that have helped rebuild the confidence of red and black supporters.
Administrative stability is also reflected in the internal organization of the club. Saturday’s election confirmed the hegemony of Leão Colossal’s list not only in the presidency, but also in the fiscal and deliberative councils, ensuring a comfortable majority for the current leadership in the main decision-making bodies of Vitória.
TIPS STRENGTHEN THE MAJORITY OF THE COLOSSAL LION PLATE
At the Fiscal Council, Raimundo Viana, ally of Fábio Mota, was re-elected president with 78.8% of the votes, with Bruno Torres as vice-president. The opposing team, formed by Valmar Sant’anna and Domingos Arjones, reached 21.13%. In the composition of the body, Leão Colossal guaranteed seven elected members, compared to two from Aliança Vitória SAF, thus expanding its control over the financial supervision of the club.
In the Deliberative Council, Nilton Almeida was also reappointed as president, with 79.49% of the votes, alongside vice-president Nilton Sampaio Filho. The competing party, led by Vagner Reis and Ícaro Argolo, obtained 20.51%. The distribution of seats further strengthened the government majority: 119 councilors elected by Leão Colossal against 31 for Aliança Vitória SAF.
With the election results, Vitória begins a new cycle marked by continuity, political strength and associative support. The re-election of Fábio Mota, added to the vast majority of councils, creates a favorable environment for medium and long-term planning, both in football and in institutional management. For Red and Black supporters, Saturday’s election marks a commitment to maintaining a project that has put the club back on the path to stability and competitiveness.
