Fábio Porchat mocks the controversy over Havaianas and provokes a “diplomatic crisis”

Fábio Porchat decided to enter the Havaianas controversy by recording a video posing as Fernanda Torres’ crisis manager after the propaganda that outraged politicians and their right-wing supporters. The actor’s action, however, ended up causing an international “crisis”.

In the social media post, the presenter pretends to suggest a series of actions the Oscar-nominated actress could take to prevent a boycott of the flip-flop brand.

The video, however, was recorded inside the Brazilian embassy in Rome, Italy, prompting questions and criticism of Porchat. “Government facilities are not used for militant purposes, nor to protect allies,” said Senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN), leader of the opposition in the Senate.

Internet users also joined the parliamentarian to criticize the comedian. “No video on the Xandão family (STF minister Alexandre de Moraes) and Banco Master?” criticized one of them. “But in Rome?? Why didn’t you go spend Christmas in Cuba or Venezuela??” joked another.

The embassy speaks

After the repercussion of the video, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had to comment on the presence of the Brazilian actor at the diplomatic mission in Italy.

In a note published to the press, Itamaraty clarified that Fábio Porchat was the guest of the ambassador, who paid for the celebrity’s visit. The statement also said the diplomat was not aware of and was not consulted regarding the shared video.

Fábio Porchat and Porta dos Fundos have not yet commented on the episode.

“The Brazilian ambassador in Rome specifies that Fabio Porchat is his personal guest for the Christmas Eve celebration. During his stay at the residence, the artist recorded and published a video without his knowledge or authorization.

The guest’s stay did not entail public expenses, since the expenses of the ambassador’s personal guests are covered by the head of the diplomatic mission himself.
