Marcos Oliveira, the “Beiçola” of The big familywho lives in Retiro dos Artistas, in Rio de Janeiro, made a special request for this Christmas: he wants to win a sewing machine. In addition to him, other residents also wrote their “letters” asking for gifts and gestures of affection for this end of year. The agitation of the fans was great, which led the institution to open an online fundraiser to respond to the wishes of the fifty artists hosted in the institution.
“We received so many messages from people asking us to help them, to set up a fundraiser and to participate in Christmas gifts for our residents, that we decided to respond to this wonderful request,” wrote Retiro dos Artistas in a post published Thursday 11 on the project’s Instagram.
The fundraising goal for Christmas gifts is R$25,000. “Give as much as you feel in your heart. Every contribution makes a difference. We are very happy and grateful for all the affection you have shown us,” they added.
The Artists’ Retreat began publicizing the campaign with Christmas requests last Saturday, the 8th, and published two parts of “letters” until crowdfunding was created.
Among those present, some said they needed items such as “Kindle,” “new cell phone,” and “laptop.” But there are also artists who surprised by asking for acts like “see my niece”, “health” and “a better world”.

Marcos Oliveira moved to Retiro dos Artistas in April this year after experiencing financial difficulties and receiving an eviction order from his place of residence. On the occasion, commenting on the happiness of having a new home for him and his dog, Lolita, Oliveira celebrated that he will now be able to “sleep peacefully and safely.”
The actor thanked the support of actress Marieta Severo, who financed the construction of his residence in Retiro, as well as the support of Tatá Werneck, who financed the artist’s health plan. “Let’s work, people. My mind is now focused on work, and that’s actually what makes me come alive,” he wrote in an Instagram post.
