The Civil Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro (PCERJ) arrested, this Thursday (25/12), in the Botafogo neighborhood, in Cabo Frio, a father and his son, accused of having detained a 76-year-old man in private prison.
Agents from the Anti-Kidnapping Commission (DAS), with the support of the military police, rescued the victim, who was locked in a room in the suspects’ residence.
According to the investigation, the victim had been friends with the criminals for around 20 years and was lured to them under the pretext of carrying out a transport service.
Upon arrival at the address, the man was captured by the duo, who covered his head with a plastic bag and constantly made death threats.
During the abusive detention, the father and son demanded the payment of R$60,000 for the release of the victim, in addition to subtracting R$400. The criminals also attempted to make a bank transfer of R$7,000, but were prevented from doing so due to the blockade imposed by the bank.
After learning what had happened, officers took immediate action and, through intelligence work, launched the operation to rescue the man.
During the action, the team invaded the property and located the victim locked in a room. The two criminals were arrested in the act.
