The Federal Police in Santa Catarina confiscated 613 kg of cocaine in a cache located in the warehouse of a metal bullion export company in Blumenau.
The operation, supported by the military police and aimed at suppressing international drug trafficking, took place on Tuesday (2) and was announced by the police on Thursday (4). Two people were arrested, one red-handed and the other based on a judicial order.
The drugs were found in the company’s basement with the help of a police dog. It was necessary to use machinery to open the entrance to the site.
Cars, boats, jewelry and documents were confiscated at the home of a drug trafficking suspect, in Lagoa da Conceição, in Florianópolis.
According to the investigation, the company may have been used as a front for a scheme to send cocaine to Europe. It is suspected that the headquarters was used to prepare and store drugs prior to their international transport.
For the Federal Police, the company is part of a criminal structure led by foreigners and with logistical support from Brazilians.
Among those investigated were Britons who were wanted internationally and had a history of drug smuggling in England.
