The Federal Revenue Service once again denied, this Monday (12/29), false information circulating on social networks concerning an alleged tax on transactions via Pix and the application of a 150% fine for taxpayers who have not declared these transactions.
In a note, the organization stressed that there is no taxation on financial transfers, nor any legal provision aimed at taxing operations carried out by Pix, TED, DOC or cards.
The Revenue also clarified that there is no fine in this percentage linked to this type of movement.
“There is no 27.5% tax on transactions, it is completely false; it is also a lie that there is a 150% fine for non-declaration,” he says.

According to the tax authority, the misleading messages mix true information, such as changes to income tax rules, with fabricated data, thereby creating confusion and alarmism among taxpayers.
One of the most recurring rumors is that there is a supposed automatic debit on amounts over a certain limit, which is false.
The Revenue also emphasized that the control of financial transactions, when they take place, does not mean the collection of taxes, but is part of the data cross-checking mechanisms already provided for by law to identify inconsistencies in declarations.
The agency advises the population to ignore unofficial messages and seek information only through institutional channels of the Federal Revenue Service and the government.
According to the IRS, spreading false news can lead to erroneous financial decisions and losses for taxpayers.
“The only truth that the false messages do not want to tell is that from January, those who earn up to R$5,000 will be completely exempt from income tax and those who earn up to R$7,350 will benefit from a reduction. This is what the authors of these false messages do not want the population to know. Do not fall for the fake news!”, reinforces the statement.
