Six days before the end of the electoral campaign in Extremadurathe Popular Party took advantage of this Saturday to display its strength in the region with a massive demonstration in Navalmoral de la Matain the Campo Arañuelo region, an area that depends … economically of the Almaraz nuclear power plant. The president of the PP, Alberto Nuñez Feijóowho accompanied the President of the Council, María Guardiola, asked Extremadurians to “speak clearly” on December 21 and avoid “confusion” by voting for the popular list.
Feijóo brought to the table the sexist scandals surrounding a Socialist Party “degenerated in the image and likeness” of the president of the government, Pedro Sánchez: “He wanted to cover up the sexists, can you be more cynical and hypocritical?”. The popular president accuses Sánchez not only of “covering up” cases of sexual harassment in his party, but also of having done the same with “the 500 euro notes, his brother living in Moncloa and, one by one, all his corrupt people”, he denounced.
The president of the PP thus underlined that his formation proved to be “more honorable, respectable and responsible”, while the PSOE He believes he can “use institutions with complete impunity as if they were his own”. He believes that “democracy” is not “having a president who does not govern and who cannot take to the streets”, and that we cannot be in government “to erode the people”. believe that Sánchez should take Guardiola’s example and call elections due to the inability to execute budgets.
In reference to Guardiola’s candidacy to continue presiding over the regional government of Extremadura, Feijóo stressed that “all voting motivations must be united” in the vote for the popular list: “If you want to advance, if you want this land to be heard, if you want to send a message to Sánchez, if you want the future, if you want, in short, Extremadura: María Guardiola”. The president of the PP believes that on December 21, “truth, justice and our votes” will prevail.
Feijóo and Guardiola took advantage of their presence in the Campo Arañuelo region to affirm their support for the continuity of the nuclear power plant in Almarazon which they depend 4,000 families: “The factory is not going to close, as long as I am president I will not resign,” remarked Guardiola. In the same sense, the leader of Extremadura questioned the treatment that the tobacco sector, which also supports thousands of jobs, receives from the Spanish government: “What sense does it make that farmers here cannot use the dichloropropene that they can use in Italy?”
“Even a hundred gentlemen on Twitter won’t silence me”
The President of the Council also put on the table the sexist scandals within the PSOE, also accusing Miguel Ángel Gallardo, socialist candidate in the region, of having spoken to him with “condescension”: “I am the first female president of Extremadura, I studied, I sat in the opposition, I worked, I raised my family, I reconciled, so not a hundred Sánchez, not a hundred Gallardos, not a hundred Abascal asking for my head, not a hundred gentlemen on Twitter will keep quiet.”
Guardiola recalled that in 2023, Extremadura “voted for change”. However, he accuses the PSOE and Vox of uniting to “block” and “hinder progress” in the region: “Those who came to put an end to socialism joined Sanchism”. He believes that Vox has “fled” the regional executive: “It’s more comfortable to be in opposition, we don’t have real problems, we only criticize ourselves.” He joked about the president of Vox, Santiago Abascalensuring that while some “take photos on horseback”, “others – Feijóo – come to engage” in Extremadura.
Guardiola assured that, while some are betting “on the noise”, the Popular Party has decided to “stay and listen to the people”: “Extremadura is making a bet, we must choose if we want a stable government or if we want to return to the film of blockade and chaos”. Thus, the PP candidate asked, once again, to vote in Extremaduras in Extremaduras: “Voting for the Popular Party means voting in complete safetyit’s a useful vote, I ask you to fill the ballot boxes with hope, I ask you that no Extremadurans stay at home.”
