The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will continue his electoral program in Extremadura this Tuesday with events in the Badajoz towns of Zahínos and Jerez de los Caballeros to support the President of Extremadura and candidate of the PP, María Guardiola, before the elections on December 21st.
Feijóo, who was already in Extremadura on Friday and Saturday, considers the elections in this autonomy to be “important” for all of Spain because “they can be the beginning of the end of sanchismo” and can send “a message of change” and “hope to all Spaniards”.
The opposition leader will travel again to Extremadura on December 16, where he will visit the Carbones y Leñas Los Torres company in the town of Zahínos, in Badajoz. He will speak to the media there from 12:30 p.m.
During this visit, the leader of the PP will be accompanied by the Secretary General of the PP of Extremadura, Abel Bautista, and the mayor of the city, Gregorio Gallego. Later, from 3 p.m., he will speak at a rally in Jerez de los Caballeros (Badajoz).
In Extremadura, the PSOE emerged victorious in the elections on May 28, 2023 with 242,659 votes (39.9%) and 28 seats, closely followed by the PP, which also received 28 deputies (38.84%), but six thousand fewer votes. At that time, Vox won five seats, but now this party intends to increase its representation and, in fact, its leader, Santiago Abascal, is pursuing an intense agenda in this autonomy.
FEIJÓO’S ACTIONS IN EXTREMADURA SINCE DECEMBER 4TH
The President of the Popular Party traveled to Extremadura last Thursday, December 4th, coinciding with the start of the election campaign. There he took part in an election rally in Don Benito (Badajoz) with Guardiola.
He then visited Villanueva de la Serena (Badajoz) and attended a Copa del Rey football match between CD Extremadura and Sevilla in Almendralejo, a city where he also took part in putting up posters that same evening.
The next day he was in Mérida to support the primary sector. He later went to the Casar de Cáceres in Cáceres and took part in an election rally in Pinofranqueado in the Las Hurdes region.
It is uncertain whether the campaign will be completed
The following week and after three days of activity in Congress, Feijóo resumed his campaign agenda on Friday December 12 with a visit to Talarrubias (Badajoz) and a subsequent lunch in the town of Puebla de Alcocer in Badajoz. In addition, on Saturday he took part in a central PP campaign rally in Navalmoral de la Mata (Cáceres) together with Guardiola.
Feijóo will attend the European People’s Party (EPP) meeting in Brussels ahead of the European Council on Thursday and is not currently expected to attend the final rally of the PP campaign alongside Guardiola, although sources from his team do not rule out that he will eventually attend.
