Away from soap operas for four years, since he filmed “Travessia”, Raul Gazolla says that he misses being on the air, but that he would not agree to play any character:

— I once did a soap opera in which my character had lost his lines and I complained to the producer saying that he was charging too much to be an extra. I continued without speaking until I threatened not to go and record and I didn’t go. Shortly after, my character spoke again. Maybe I worked less than I could because I was never the social type.
In recent years, Gazolla has been a constant presence in the soap operas of Gloria Perez, mother of Daniella Perez, of whom the actor is a widower. He talks about his relationship with the author:
— I agree to do his serials with the greatest pleasure and with great gratitude. I wrote the first Gloria serial ten years after Dani’s murder. She told me she couldn’t do it before because when she saw me she remembered Dani. We created a strong bond of friendship. She is someone I admire as a human being, as a friend and as an author. And we share this pain, which is the loss of Dani. I was already friends with Gloria before Dani, and after her loss we became emotionally attached.
Without considering new roles on television for the moment, he is delighted with the success of the musical “Chorus Line”, broadcast until mid-December. To be physically fit on stage, he underwent a hyaluronic acid injection into his hip. Soon, Gazolla will have surgery to replace the head of his femur. The actor defines himself as an “amateur athlete”: in addition to having a black belt in jiu-jitsu, he practices kitesurfing and has even crossed certain states in the Northeast. He also does weight training daily.
— I think that after 40, doing bodybuilding is like brushing your teeth. You need to prepare your muscles for anything that might surprise you in your life. It is very important to work on your body physically — he says, claiming that he likes what he sees in the mirror. — Time brings marks on the face which are the obstacles that life has posed over these 70 years. And I know how to live with that with love. I don’t want to be 70 years old with a 20 year old face, that would look really weird. The operations that I will carry out are aimed at health. And that’s why I will continue training until the end of my days.
In recent years, Gazolla has suffered six heart attacks. The most recent occurred in 2023, after jiu-jitsu training. The doctor told him that he had survived only because of his physical condition.
— When I had my first heart attack, my youngest daughter was eight years old, now she is 23. I didn’t know what I had, now I can identify the symptoms. It is not just a genetic disease, it is also an emotional condition. In addition to losing Dani, I lost a 22 year old nephew who was hit by a train. He was an athlete, he was scheduled for the Olympics. When you’re young, the heart can take it, but the bills are coming. When Dani was murdered I was 36 years old, my first heart attack was at 54 years old. During the latter in 2023, I passed to the other side. I saw a field, a green hill with many trees in the background and a couple in white in the distance looking at me. I didn’t identify them, but I heard my name being called. Then my heart came back after a cardiac massage – he remembers, who was on the carpet in a kimono when the accident happened.

It was also in a kimono that Gazolla did a sensual shoot for Revista Íntima in 1999. At the time, the publication did not show full-frontal nudes.
— It was curious because we were working with our imagination. The fact that people only saw my butt made them think about what the front would look like. I didn’t have the slightest problem exposing myself, I was very well physically. I was also invited to G Magazine, but charged a whopping $40,000 fee, already thinking about declining.
