FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced this Monday (29) an impressive figure: 150 million ticket requests have already been registered for the 2026 World Cup, which will be played in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The demand exceeds all expectations and reinforces the global dimension of the tournament.
Facing criticism over high prices, the entity launched a new lot with tickets starting at US$60 (approximately R$334.00). “We have six to seven million tickets for sale. In just 15 days we received 150 million orders, or 10 million per day. This shows the power of the World Cup,” Infantino said at the World Sports Summit in Dubai.
The director highlighted the scale of interest: “In almost 100 years of history, FIFA has sold a total of 44 million tickets. So in two weeks we could have filled 300 years of World Cups. Imagine. That’s absolutely insane,” he said.
According to Infantino, American fans top the list of requests, followed by Germans and Brits. He also defended the prizes and explained that the revenues will be reinvested in the development of football around the world. “Without FIFA, there would be no football in 150 countries. Football exists thanks to the revenue generated by the World Cup, which we reinvest on a global scale,” he concluded.
The Brazilian team met their opponents in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup after the draw on December 5 in Washington. Brazil will face Morocco, Scotland and Haiti in Group C.
