For the first time in its history, the Cordoba Women’s Basketball League will make an Olympic return. “Next weekend,”The Cathedral” of the Hindu Club It will be the venue for the Final Four of the Apertura tournament, the first of the two competitions that make up the calendar for the 2025/2026 season.
In addition to the host team, which is gaining its first experience in the competition organized by the Association of Clubs (ADC), there are also the representatives of Córdoba Central Sports Institute, Western Railway and sanitary facilities.
The schedule for Saturday includes the Hindu-Obras and Instituto-Ferro crossings, each scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The next day, the losers of the first day will determine third and fourth places at 3:30 p.m., while the grand final will take place at 6:00 p.m.
The fantastic four
The Instituto and Hindú teams from Córdoba reached the Final Four for the first time as representatives of the Northern Conference, in which they took first and fourth place respectively in the regular series.
Already in the playoffs, La Gloria and General Paz’s team eliminated Gorriones de Río Cuarto and Fusión Riojana in the qualifying quadrangle and left behind James Craik’s Deportivo Chañares and Quimsa de Santiago del Estero in the semifinal quadrangle. Both cases took place at the Ángel Sandrín Stadium in Alta Córdoba.
Throughout the competition, Albirrojo recorded 19 wins and three losses (the best record among teams qualified for the Final Four), while the “H” has a record of 15 wins and seven defeats.
The Buenos Aires teams Obras and Ferro are the best teams in the Southern Conference and reach the Córdoba finals, where they finish the first phase in second and third place, respectively, behind El Talar. In the Qualifying Quadrangular, which took place at “El Templo del Rock”, they eliminated Unión Florida and Independiente de Neuquén; and in the quadrangular semi-final at the Héctor Etchart Stadium in Caballito, they eliminated Deportivo Berazategui and El Talar. So far in the competition, Obras has 18 wins and four defeats, while Ferro has 16 wins and six defeats.

For an unreleased track
The Final Four is an unprecedented event for Instituto and Hindú, which has the chance to give Córdoba basketball its first women’s league title and also access to the South American club league.
Ferro, which finished second in the first half and champion in the second half last season, is the only team that has experienced the feeling of an Olympic return since the national senior women’s basketball competition was restructured in 2017.
In addition to winning the title last May, Verde de Caballito also established itself in the 2023 Apertura tournament and defeated Obras Sanitarias in the decisive duel. “El Tachero”, as the yellow and black team is called, has recorded two more defeats in the decisive games, in the 2018 Apertura tournament and in the 2024 Women’s League.
So far, Deportivo Berazategui leads the success story with six titles. They are followed by Quimsa de Santiago del Estero, Unión Florida and Ferro Carril Oeste with two wins each, and El Talar closes the list of champions with a final victory.
Will there be a Córdoba final? In this case, the record supports Instituto, which was successful in all four games of the season against Hindú. At the 2025 Apertura tournament, La Gloria won twice as a guest (49-43 in the regular phase and 58-56 in the quadrangular semifinals) and also won in the two home duels with 58-56 in the opening phase and 70-46 in the qualifying quadrangular.
