
Yes! After three years, the open-air cinema event will return to Rio with its giant 325 m² screen – but only in the first half of 2026. The date and location have not yet been announced… But there is no need to wait until then to enjoy an open-air film. Several projects offer sessions in the city, and the best part: they are free. On Praça Saens Peña, in Tijuca, the Faz circuit on the Praçascreens one film per month and organizes the last edition of the year on Saturday (4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.). On the program, the documentary “Retratos phantasmas” (at 8:00 p.m.), by Kleber Mendonça Filho, which talks about the street cinemas of Recife and dialogues with the famous “Secret Agent”, also by the director.
On Sunday (14) you can combine a visit to Paquetá Island with a movie. At 2 p.m., on Praça São Roque, the film will be screened “The Breath – Until the End”by Candé Salles, documentary about the actor and director Jorge Fernando. Also in December, on the terrace of the Novo Mercado São José, in Laranjeiras, the Mercadinho Cinema shows “Semente da Música”, by Patrícia Terra (Tuesday, at 7 p.m.), and “Baile soul”, by Cavi Borges (on the 23rd, at 7 p.m.). Another safe destination is The Bank of André (Rua Pedro Lessa, Centro), which hosts “Cinelândia — Cinema na Rua”. The next edition will take place on the 18th, at 6:30 p.m., with the screening of the film “Andança — The meetings and memories of Beth Carvalho”, by Pedro Bronz.
