Christmas dinner is usually synonymous with a rich table, traditional recipes and many dessert temptations. But this does not mean that the date should be marked only by excesses. Yes, it is possible to balance your dinner with foods that are nutritious, tasty and good for the body.
“Prefer roasted foods and balance the dish with proteins, complex carbohydrates, vegetables and greens,” suggests Sabrina Guerreiro, nutritionist, nutritional therapy coordinator and nutrologist at Badim/Rede D’Or Hospital, in Rio de Janeiro.
Among the options, the expert suggests:
- Turkey or cod
- Rice or potatoes
- Lentils or chickpeas
- Green salad, with olive oil
“They make a healthy and balanced dish. I recommend starting with salad and protein to allow more time for the satiety stimulus to reach the brain, before dessert,” he says.
Finally, to soften the night, the doctor suggests: “Prefer fresh seasonal fruits and fruit salad for dessert. Consume sweets and alcoholic drinks in moderation,” she concludes.
Christmas dinner can be tasty, loving and at the same time balanced. Favoring natural foods, varying colors and textures and moderating excesses are attitudes that make all the difference in celebrating the date with pleasure at the table and with more care for your health.
