There were at least two occasions on which Croll participated in investigations promoted by parliamentarians. During the CPI in the BC Farias case, in the 1990s, the group investigated the corruption scheme that led to the resignation of then-president Fernando Collor.
Another incident was in the Petrobras CPI, in 2015. At that time, the recruitment, conducted by the House of Representatives, was aimed at tracking and identifying assets transferred to accounts abroad by people involved in the corruption scheme at the state-owned company.
In 2023, Kroll was appointed by Bradesco to conduct an examination of documents related to the Americanas case. In the same year, he conducted an investigation into possible corruption within Banco do Pará (Banpara).
In 2018, Krul was signed by Palmeiras after the team’s defeat to Corinthians in the Paulista Championship final. Palmeiras sought to collect evidence that the referee received information from abroad – which is prohibited – to review the decision to award the penalty kick.
Investigators pointed to inconsistencies in testimonies and the use of mobile phones by referees in the video booth (VAR), which was prohibited at the time. However, the tournament result was maintained.
Kroll came to the attention of the federal police in the midst of one of the most suspected illegal wiretapping rings – the famous eavesdropping operations – in the country. According to the complaints, the company, after being hired by Brasil Telecon — which was controlled by Daniel Dantas’ Opportunity — illegally spied on Telecom Italia executives.
Suspicion of the high number of people being illegally wiretapped led to the creation of the CPI for Covert Wiretapping (also known as the CPI for Wiretapping) in 2008. The CPI even investigated whether Kroll had carried out covert wiretaps and interceptions of authorities, including ministers of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
The criminal case witnessed complex developments. In 2011, the Federal Court dropped charges against Kroll’s employees in one case, deeming the complaint invalid. In 2012, Daniel Dantas and 11 other defendants were acquitted of charges related to Operation Chakal.
