
According to the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM), one of the injured minors was taken to the Parc Taulí hospital in Sabadell in critical condition, while the other was transferred to the Vall d’Hebron hospital in Barcelona. A total of five people were injured in the accident, which was registered on the C-16 near Cercs (Barcelona), Europa Press reported based on the SEM statement. The accident occurred at 10:08 p.m. on Monday in the section between kilometers 101 and 101.5 of this road, forcing the closure of the road south towards Barcelona.
According to the SEM report, emergency services responded by deploying nine ambulances and a medical helicopter to treat victims at the scene. In addition to the two minors who remain in critical condition, three other people were injured and transferred to different hospital centers in less serious condition.
The Europa Press media reported that among the injured with a less serious prognosis is a woman who was referred to the Vall d’Hebron hospital, as well as a man who was taken to the Althaia Foundation in Manresa and another person who was transferred to the Mútua de Terrassa. According to the information in the message published by the SEM on the social network X, the coordination between the emergency services enabled the immediate evacuation of those affected.
The accident, which occurred on a key route connecting Barcelona, caused a temporary disruption to southbound traffic. The emergency services made it a priority to stabilize the injured before transporting them to hospital. The SEM helicopter was used to expedite the transport of one of the vital minors to the medical center, an operation that complemented the work of the ground ambulances.
Europa Press reported that authorities had not yet released details about the cause of the incident, while emergency equipment had secured the area while providing care. Currently, both the Parc Taulí Hospital in Sabadell and the Vall d’Hebron Hospital are caring for the injured minors in critical condition and monitoring their development.
The SEM’s actions included the movement of land and air resources, which highlighted the scale of the road accident. The road closure caused traffic congestion, forcing motorists on C-16 to seek alternative routes until traffic was restored.
All transfers were carried out according to the assessment of severity by the medical teams deployed to the scene of the accident. Meanwhile, the hospitals of Vall d’Hebron, the Fundació Althaia of Manresa and the Mútua of Terrassa immediately treated the patients admitted after the incident, Europa Press reported.
The Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques also used its official channels to provide information about the operation and pointed out the importance of multiple operations in accidents with serious injuries and multiple injuries.
