Flamengo agreed this Sunday to recruit the defender Vitão25 years old, which belongs to Internacional. The Rio club has defined both the payment method with Inter and the defender’s contract, which will last until 2029. Vitão’s agents received a 7% commission, after negotiations to reduce the initially requested transfer.
Information about the deal was first disclosed by journalist Diogo Dantas of the newspaper O Globo. The defender will be Flamengo’s first reinforcement for the 2026 season. Rubro-negro was already tracking the player throughout 2025 and offered around 10 million euros (around R$65 million) to take him from Inter. Additionally, the club canceled a debt linked to midfielder Thiago Maia, worth 30 million reais, as part of the deal.
Vitão used to work with Flamengo director of football José Boto at Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine, which increased Rubro-negro’s interest in the defender. The player was a long-time target for the club, who now secure their first major signing for next season.
