
Flamengo have announced the return of goalkeeper Matheus Cunha to Brazil to attend the birth of his first child. The rubro-black defender was registered by the team for the Intercontinental Cup, in Qatar, but interrupts his participation in the competition for this family moment.

“Goalkeeper Matheus Cunha will return to Brazil in the early hours of this Thursday to attend the birth of his first child. The return flight is scheduled for 1:30 a.m. (Doha local time). As it is not possible to register new athletes, no player will be called up to replace him.”
This Wednesday (10/12), Flamengo beat Cruz Azul 2 x 1 and won the Derby das Américas, a title played between the champion of the Concacaf Champions League and the winner of the Libertadores. With this result, Mengão advances to the semi-finals of the Intercontinental Cup and will face Pyramids this Saturday (13/12), at 1 a.m. (Brasilia time).

The Rio club also informed that, as it is no longer possible to list players to participate in the competition, no player from the youth categories of the Rio club will be sent to replace Matheus Cunha in the Intercontinental Cup.
