Mengão faces Paris Saint-Germain, current champions of the Champions League

Flamengo beat the Egyptian Pyramids this Saturday afternoon (13) and qualified for the Intercontinental grand final against Paris Saint-Germain. The 2-0 victory with a goal from the defensive duo gave a place to the Carioca team.
After beating Cruz Azul, of the doctor by 2-1, it was the turn of the Egyptians to fall against the current champion of the Libertadores. With a score of 2-0 and almost absolute control of Flamengo, Rubro-Negro is in the final of the Intercontinental Cup.
In addition to the brilliance of Léo Pereira and Danilo, once again number 10, Arrascaeta was the highlight of the match, after scoring two goals in the first match, the Uruguayan who is having the best season of his career was the assistant behind the goals against Pyramids.
With this cup, Arrascaeta and Bruno Henrique expand their gallery of trophies, they now number 19 each, isolated as the most winning players under the red and black jersey.
Flamengo’s World Cup campaigns
The clash against French Paris Saint-Germain will mark the third World Cup final for Flamengo, discover the Rio club’s campaigns below:
- 1981 World Cup: Single match won 3-0 by Flamengo against Liverpool, of England, giving the title to the Rubro-Negro club.
- 2019 World Cup: Rubro-Negro entered the semi-final and defeated Al-Hilal, from Saudi Arabia, 3-1 and in the final they met Liverpool again, but were beaten in extra time by 1-0.
- 2022 World Cup: Flamengo met Al-Hilal again, but were defeated, not reaching the final against Real Madrid, but took third place after winning the match against Al-Ahly, from Egypt.
- 2025 Club World Super Cup: First edition of the new championship, Rubro-Negro did well and came first in the group with Chelsea, in addition to beating the English club. However, in the round of 16, they faced and fell to Bayern Munich.
- 2025 World Cup (ongoing): In a new format, where the European champion club is directly in the final, it was up to Flamengo to beat Cruz Azul and Pyramids, to finally face PSG in the grand final.
Retrospective against Paris Saint-Germain
Flamengo and PSG have never faced each other in an official tournament in history, but they have already faced each other three times in friendly matches or tournaments, all on the French team’s home ground. The match valid for the Intercontinental final will mark, in addition to the cup, the tiebreaker of this confrontation. The final between the French and the Brazilians is scheduled for next Wednesday (17), at 2 p.m. (Brasilia time), at the Ahmad Bin Ali stadium, the same stadium as the other red-black clashes.
