The president of Flamengo, Luiz Eduardo Baptista was denounced to the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) this Friday (26/12). Bap, as he is known, is accused of sexist attacks against journalist Renata Mendonça. In a speech delivered this Tuesday (12/23), the president insulted the presenter by criticizing her physical appearance.
The complaint was filed by the Brazilian Women’s Union (UBM). The lawyers in charge of the case, Carlos Nicodemos and Maria Fernanda Fernandes Cunha, rely on article 243-G of the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice. This legislation deals with “discriminatory, contemptuous or scandalous acts in sport, linked to prejudice based on ethnic origin, race, sex, color, age or disability”.

During an event organized by Flamengo on Tuesday, Bap wanted to send a message to the journalist regarding criticism of investment in women’s football.
“There is the ‘big nose from Globo’ who continues to say bad things about us and everything else, about football, who does not encourage… it makes you want to say: ‘My daughter, convince your company to put R$10 million, R$20 million per year in broadcasting rights and things will get better. What happens to João, you also have to beat Maria,’ declared the Flamengo president.
