The player was chosen at an awards ceremony organized by the CBF and achieved a double by winning the ESPN Bola de Prata
Repeating the feat of ESPN’s Bola de Prata, Giorgian De Arrascaeta won the Brasileirão Star award, at an awards ceremony organized by the CBF. The event to crown the best of the championship took place Monday evening (08), in Rio de Janeiro.
While in Doha, Qatar, with Flamengo, to compete in the Intercontinental Cup, the Uruguayan was represented by his idol Petkovic during the awards ceremony. In a message broadcast during the event, Arrascaeta said he was happy with the recognition and said the award was in good hands with the Serb.
“I am very happy to have won the title of best player of the championship. I wanted to thank everyone who voted for me and the award will be in good hands with Pet,” said the player.
Petkovic, who had already taken the stage to receive the Uruguayan’s best midfielder award, said he didn’t know, but expected it. Additionally, the red and black idol thanked the player on behalf of all the fans.
“Guys, I had already said it before, but I didn’t know it. But I imagined that the choice would fall, because our star was really to be congratulated. I just wanted to say one thing: the nation thanks you, congratulations”, he underlined.
