Jair Bolsonaro’s son announced his pre-candidacy for the presidency on Friday 5; the senator would lose in a possible second round against a member of the PT
Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) is the right-wing name with the worst performance in a possible second round against Lula (PT) in 2026, according to the survey Datafoliha released this Saturday 6. If he ran for president against his rival, the son of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) would be 15 points behind the PT member. The senator has 38% disapproval among the Brazilian electorate.
In a possible second round, Flávio would obtain 36% of the votes, while Lula would obtain 51%. Blank and invalid votes would total 12%. The margin of error is plus or minus 2 points.
Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos-SP) and Ratinho Jr. (PSD-PR) they would also lose against Lula, but with fewer disadvantages. In a possible second round, Tarcísio would obtain 42% of the votes and Ratinho 41%, compared to 47% for the PT member in both scenarios.
Flávio’s performance would be similar to that of other members of the Bolsonaro family. According to research, Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL) would have 35% voting intentions in the second round against the current president, while Michelle Bolsonaro (PL) would have 39%. The three are virtually tied in the margin of error also when it comes to electorate rejection: 37% say they would not vote for Eduardo at all, while 35% say the same of Michelle.
Lula has 44% rejection among Brazilian voters. If he could run in next year’s election, Jair Bolsonaro would be the candidate with the highest disapproval rating, at 45%. Currently, the former president is ineligible due to a conviction for attempted coup in the 2022 elections.
Flávio announced his pre-candidacy for the presidency with the support of his father this Friday 5. The Datafolha survey questioned 2,002 people, aged 16 or over, in 113 municipalities from Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4, the day before the announcement.
