Flavio Bolsonaro requests approval for an amnesty – 06/12/2025 – Authority

Senator Flavio Bolsonaro (PL) on Saturday morning (6) asked anti-Lula political leaders to agree to pardon those convicted of the coup attempt, as a first gesture in the negotiations to run for the presidency. The request comes one day after Flavio was announced as the chosen one by his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), to run in the 2026 elections.

“The decision was made yesterday, today I start negotiations! The first gesture I ask of all political leaders who say they are anti-Lula is to agree to an amnesty this year! I hope I will not be an extremist by demanding an amnesty for innocent people. We only have two weeks, let’s unite the right!”, the senator posted on social media.

The amnesty bill, which provides for amnesty for protesters convicted of the coup attempt, is stalled in the House of Representatives.

After Bolsonaro’s arrest at the Federal Police headquarters in Brasilia, Flavio has already stated that the priority is to move forward with the chamber’s bill. The senator also said that Parliament would not accept discussion of the issued dosimetry and that he would work to open the motion in the House of Representatives.

He said: “We have always made it clear that we will not conclude this type of agreement. What we ask is for democracy to prevail: the rapporteur sets the wording as he sees fit and we will use our military apparatus to approve the amnesty. What will be approved, the final text, will go to a vote. We have no obligation to measure doses, our obligation is to amnesty, and whoever gets the most votes wins.”

On Friday, Flavio announced that he was Bolsonaro’s candidate, in a decision that would have been reinforced after visiting his father in prison on Tuesday (2). The two talked for half an hour at that time.

The parliamentarian traveled to São Paulo on Thursday (4) to inform the governor of São Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas (Republican), of the decision, who has not yet commented.
