The number of passengers affected by flight cancellations or delays of more than two hours increased by 22% at Brazilian airports in November compared to October this year. A total of 2.14 million people experienced one of these issues last month, up from 1.76 million in the previous period.
This means that approximately 1 in 5 passengers were injured throughout the month of November. The previous month, the same proportion was around 1 in 6. The data comes from AirHelp, a global travel technology company specializing in passenger assistance.
Specifically regarding delays, in November, 72.2 thousand passengers were affected, compared to 71.3 thousand in October. The proportion went from 1 in 145 affected passengers to 1 in 140.
Despite increased disruptions, total passenger volume declined in November. According to AirHelp, 10.13 million people boarded at Brazilian airports during the month, a decrease of 3.2% compared to October, when the total was 10.46 million.
