The La Plata flood of 2013 is now hitting the stage. the job “300mm underwater city” It will be shown at the Dynamo Theater on December 7, 14 and 21. It is expected that all seats will already be sold out even before its debut.
The show takes as its focus the events and testimonies of that night when a flood destroyed the capital, Buenos Aires. With nearly 90 deaths, multiple injuries, destroyed homes and irreparable losses, the show reconstructs the human and emotional impact of the disaster through a poetic, physical and sensory lens.
A massive and profound performance: 33 actors on stage
On stage, 33 artists shape a proposal that seeks to transform the story of tragedy into a collective metaphor for pain. “It is ambitious, poetic and full of energy,” they highlight the production.
Director Guillermo Alli explains that the work relies on body-based construction:
“I wanted to start from my body, so that the story would be implicit in the images. Pain often remains in the body. Thus, we construct the catastrophe of that day through images and testimonies that go beyond the literal,” he points out.
“300mm” thus proposes a scenic experience that challenges, moves and reconsiders one of the most traumatic events in the city’s modern history, now transformed into art and collective memory.
Everything was sold out for the first show
As soon as the production of “300 Millimeters” was launched, tickets for the premiere were sold out within a few hours. “It seems that in every tragedy, social separation and, above all, the solidarity of the population coexist. The flood ceases to be news when the cameras are turned off and at that moment those who suffered begin their real story, hence the artistic value of the work.” Guillermo Beer comments.
Reality is integrated into the scene
300mm relies on real events to create its scenes. Therefore, it contains real testimonies as material for generating imagination on stage. “We seek to reflect on the need to tell stories, remember, and see ourselves from an unbiased place.” Thus, the work shows us a complex, precise, and aesthetically profound historical reality. 300mm is a form of collective revisionism in which we dialogue about our condition and our past.
