On Thursday evening (11), Fluminense missed the opportunity to take the advantage and ended up losing 2-1 against Vasco, in the first duel of the semi-final of the Brazilian Cup, at the Maracanã. Tricolor captain, Thiago Silva spoke as he left the field and did not hide his frustration with his team’s performance.
According to the defender, Flu failed to maintain the rhythm after the opening goal and found himself involved in the rival marking:
“We stopped playing. They pressed well, they blocked the marking and we couldn’t get out. We tried a few long balls, but without movement. This is not the time to blame,” said the defender.
Despite the defeat, Thiago Silva stressed that the dispute is still ongoing and recalled that Vasco himself knows that nothing has been decided yet.
The return match is scheduled for Sunday, at 8:30 p.m. (Brasilia time), at the Maracanã, qualifying for a place in the 2025 Copa do Brasil final.
