In the note published by the Fluminense organization, the entity deplored the death of Gabriel Pereira da Costa. Supporters showed their solidarity with the victim’s family and friends.
The confusion occurred before the match between Fluminense x Vasco, for the second leg of the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil. The clash took place in the Chatuba community, a few hours before the ball rolled to the Maracanã. The Rio de Janeiro military police were called and sent Gabriel Pereira to the UPA.
On the field, Fluminense won 1 x 0 during the 90 minutes, with a goal scored by Paulo Henrique (own goal). The ranking was decided on penalties and Vasco beat his rival 4 x 3. Now, Cruzmaltino faces Corinthians in the final of the Copa do Brasil.
