After confirming third place in the Brazilian Championship, Cruzeiro, who can no longer join Palmeiras, intends to rotate the squad in the last round. After all, the celestial team will face the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil, in two matches against Corinthians.
Thus, the confrontation with Peixe is scheduled for this Sunday, at 4 p.m. (Brasilia time), in Vila Belmiro. Three days later there will be the first leg against Timão, in Mineirão, in the quest for the national title to crown the season.
“We would like to play with our best version. You know, I’m not a big fan of team rotation and big changes on several players, but the schedule demands it. We have a match in six days and I can’t put this team that has played the most, that has already played 50, 60 matches during the season, to travel, play another difficult match, which will be Santos,” said coach Leonardo Jardim.
In addition, the commander pointed out that this could be an opportunity to see up close those who have not played frequently during the season. The objective is to give these players playing time before the semi-final.
“It’s also a door that opens to those who have played less, to really show why they are here in the Cruzeiro team and also to gain rhythm because following the cup is an extremely competitive competition. We are not only going to play with some, we are going to play with others and this will also gain a little activity, playing time to continue helping us in the semi-final,” he added.
