
Rafa Nadal, who hung up his racket more than a year ago and who had surgery on his right hand this Thursday for severe osteoarthritis, has many personal projects such as his Academy or his Foundation. His wife, María Francisca Perelló, better known as Mery Perelló, and director of the entity, He spoke about his plans, as well as the involvement of the former Balearic tennis player.
“I joined the foundation in 2012. Thanks to the great team we have put together, I was able to learn and “Right now, I’m leading the many projects we’re doing,” explains Marí Francisca in an interview with the Review of Malaga on the operation of the Rafa Nadal Foundation, responsible for helping children and families in financial difficulty.
“We want to create opportunities for people in difficulty, to provide them with solid training that helps them face the future,” he says of his objectives.
Likewise, María Francisca spoke about how her husband, Rafa, now that he no longer plays tennis, is more involved than ever: “When he can, he comes to the foundation’s headquarters. He meets professionals, chats and plays with children. For him, it is a great satisfaction to be able to give back part of what he has earned through sport to the children and families who need it most.”
“I am very excited when I see that a child with few resources improves thanks to our help. At that moment, I realize that we were right to focus on this solidarity project,” confesses the director of the Foundation.
