The influencer Nathy Rocha, who participated in the third season of the reality show Ilhados com a Sogra, on Netflix, used social networks to talk about the fatphobic attacks from which she began to suffer after the broadcast of the show. According to her, the comments went beyond criticism of the game and directly impacted her emotional health.
In a statement to the Leo Dias portal, Nathy said she noticed the excess when critics stopped addressing the context of the reality show and started focusing on her physical appearance. “I realized this limitation when people stopped commenting on the situation shown in the program and started attacking my body. When the focus stopped being the game or the filmed context and became an attempt to delegitimize who I am based on my appearance, it became clear that this was no longer about criticism. It was fatphobia,” he said.

According to the influencer, the attacks occurred on a recurring basis and not one-off. She reported that the comments awakened old insecurities. “It’s not easy to deal with when the attack stops being about attitudes and starts affecting who you are. It hurts and affects old insecurities. It gave me a lot of triggers,” he said.

Nathy also said that she decided to speak out publicly after realizing that silence was affecting her well-being. “Many people go through similar situations, but they suffer in silence. They don’t expose themselves, they swallow the pain and it hurts even more. In my case, the silence made me sick. I could no longer contain the impact of the comments. Speaking was a way of breathing,” he said.
Speaking about the topic, the former reality TV star said she also seeks to encourage others facing similar attacks on social media. “Even though I know I’m still in the process, I feel like I need to strengthen my emotions every day so I can encourage others not to suffer from suffocation alone.”
