Four people died on Sunday when the small plane in which they were flying crashed in the French Pyrenees, a few kilometers from the Spanish border, in the Ariège department, local media reported on Monday.
The plane had taken off from the Saint Girons flying club, which was the one which had contacted the Lyon Aeronautical Coordination and Rescue Center when it became concerned about not having news of its situation.
The Ariège prefecture (government delegation) then deployed a search system including a civil protection helicopter, supported on the ground by gendarmes and firefighters who made it possible to locate her in a difficult to access location.
It was the mountain rescue expert gendarmes who, transported by helicopter, confirmed that the four people on board were dead.
