Princess Leonor’s military training was recently put on public display, with official images circulating showing the heir to the Spanish throne piloting an aircraft and taking part in various stages of military training. As detailed by Casa Real and published by the specialized press, this academic and operational advance came days before the start of the Christmas holidays for the Princess, who will temporarily return to La Zarzuela Palace after leaving the General Aerospace Academy of San Javier, Murcia.
According to information disseminated by the national press based on official sources, Princess Leonor made her first solo flight as a lieutenant in the Aerospace Army on Thursday, December 18. This achievement comes after almost four months of training at the academy, where he entered on September 1, in continuation of his previous time at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza and the Naval School of Marín. This training plan corresponds to the plan to ensure the gradual acquisition of military skills – both theoretical and practical – by the Princess of Asturias.
The media reported that the training process included previous sessions with the institution’s teaching team, step-by-step accompaniment in simulators and stages of training flights on Pilatus PC-21 aircraft. The published images show the Princess in different phases of this training: checking the flight plan, equipping the seven kilogram anti-G band and signing the aircraft’s technical manual. In addition, Casa Real’s visual documentation reflects Leonor’s intervention in all required procedures, such as personally checking the status of the aircraft immediately before the start of the clearance flight.
Observation by the national press shows that the Princess’s training process was not limited to technical aspects. Casa Real highlighted the dimension of integration and socialization of Leonor, who maintained constant exchanges with her classmates and participated in shared activities, both in the changing rooms and in pre-flight preparations. The media detailed that the heiress also observed the center’s rituals and traditions, such as the signing ceremony and customary exchanges between students, key elements in her full adaptation to the military environment.
Another relevant aspect of Princess Leonor’s education is her participation in festivities and institutional ceremonies at the General Academy of Aeronautics and Astronautics. As documented by Casa Real, the princess attended the celebration of Our Lady of Loreto, the center’s patron saint, in dress uniform. That day, along with other students, he attended the flag-swearing ceremony and later attended an academic reception, which was described in the press as a climate of camaraderie and group cohesion.
The media emphasized that the speed with which the Princess completed the various modules of the military curriculum coincides with the strict adherence to the requirements set for her graduation and with a progressive deepening of learning focused both on autonomy in operational operations and on the assimilation of everyday military institutional life.
This progress coincides with the end of the academic semester and the start of the Christmas holidays. According to information disseminated by Casa Real and collected by national media, the Princess of Asturias will temporarily suspend her activities at the San Javier base in order to travel to Madrid and take part in the family celebrations at La Zarzuela Palace. In the images and communications shared by the institution we can see both her operational development at a professional level and her integration into the daily dynamics of the military training center, thus consolidating her profile as the future head of the Armed Forces.
