At the end of the hot season, Francisco looked for Mary on Instagram. They both shared a Florencia, who was getting married in March, a detail she knew because she had once mentioned her friend from college. Maria accepted the request and they spoke a few words. They had never visited the same places and nothing connected them except this mutual friend.
When the wedding day came in March, the two knew they would meet in person, but they had no expectations that an emotional connection would develop. At best, it would be a pleasant evening of fun.
A bit like in a fairy tale, Cupid has scheduled the first meeting for midnight. María was talking to Francisco’s cousin, whom she had previously met, and his girlfriend. They spent the whole night talking and it wasn’t in this environment that they had their first kiss. “If I tell you I felt butterflies in my stomach, fireworks, or whatever, I’m lying to you.”because we both had a few drinks, the night went by, we had fun together and that was it,” admits María.
Two or three weeks went by without any news of each other. “No expectation that either of us will form a commitment. or something like that. “I was very much on my own, I wasn’t expecting anything and besides, he lived in another city,” recalls María.
The truth is that Francis waited for Mary to speak first. And she would have easily taken that first step, but her thoughts were elsewhere, she was studying two degrees at the same time and for the first time, after two failed love affairs, she enjoyed being alonehad learned to float in these waters and felt comfortable and independent.
Over time, it was Francisco who sent the first message, and from then on the chain was never broken.
The first date between two people who are 400 kilometers apart lasts the entire weekend. Francisco decided to go to the coast and she was ready to wait for him and go out together.
But on the Saturday I was planning to travel, there was a violent storm, one of those that no one forgets. María had gone to the school and found that the entrance was flooded, with water up to the third step of the support of her building. It was ugly to drive the route in the rain and Francisco doubted it. Her hope for her first date was threatened by the force of nature. But calmly and prudently, Francisco decided to follow the same path.
At the time, María was living with her parents, who didn’t see her all weekend. The following weekend she was the one who traveled to see him. At Easter her family gave her Francisco and María’s family began to suspect that so many sudden trips were due to a new love, so she also made the formal presentation.
The courtship began quietly, with the calm of two lovers who live in different cities, have to organize their weekends and talk a lot on weekdays. “In the middle of it all, I took a trip to New York, It was a new courtship, everything was very quiet and it went on like that until June 20th“, he explains.
On June 20, María went to study at a classmate’s house. It was her last year and the matter had to be taken seriously. But She felt strange, there was something making noisesit felt different.
Guided by her intuition and her suspicion, She bought a pregnancy test, went to the bathroom, took it and only one line appeared, she continued studying without worry. But her partner entered the bathroom and when she entered she saw that there were two snakes, she came out crying and without saying a word, María understood everything.
She sat there for ten minutes without moving or speaking, with all sorts of scenes replaying in her head. “I was pregnant by someone I met in March and it was June. There.” “I started crying and called him.”Maria remembers.
Francisco didn’t answer the phone because he was traveling, but when he stopped and saw the missed calls, he called back. Without hesitation, María said clearly and clearly: “I am pregnant, I will be pregnant. María was about to graduate and when the baby was born in February, she had to take all her subjects in December. Only in the seventh month of pregnancy was Francisco able to organize his work and economic life. to start their new family life in Mar del Plata.
