France has opened an investigation into a British e-commerce site suspected of selling sex dolls with childlike features, the Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed to AFP on Friday.
Search the site “Little sex dolls” East … fifth in the country on online product sellers with alleged links to pornography.
Sarah El Hairy, the French High Commissioner for Children, announced to AFP at the start of the week that she had filed a complaint against the British site which ships its products to France.
The prosecution asked the National Office for the Protection of Minors and the Cybercrime Office to participate in the police investigation.
“These products are dangerous,” El Hairy said. “They fuel child criminal behavior and endanger the safety of our children.” He emphasized that the identity of the buyers sex dolls should be made available to the authorities.
Last month, the discovery of child sex dolls on the Shein platform sparked outrage in France and gave rise to an investigation.
The platforms Ali Express, Temu and Wish were also investigated for alleged violations of laws prohibiting the publication of messages of a violent or pornographic nature accessible to minors.
Around 20 suspicious people online buyers of child sex dolls were arrested in a major French police operation this month.
Shein, founded in China in 2012 but currently based in Singapore, has pledged to cooperate with French authorities and announced it would ban all sex dolls.
