The ex-president of the Generalitat of Valencia, Francisco Camps, presented in July in Valencia a plan to propose to the party a new direction at the organic level and a candidacy for the next autonomous elections, at a time when, as assured by the recently elected president of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, it is not possible to wait for the nearest horizon. According to Camps, who presented himself as a candidate for the presidency of the Generalitat, there is an urgent need for a congress that elects leaders, candidates and revokes the political discourse of the PP, because the party “is not leader in the Valencian Community” declared without mentioning Vox. The mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, and the president of the Diputación, Vicente Mompó, responded that it was not yet the time for their leaders.
Camps does not abandon his efforts for political resurrection and spends months defying the president of the Generalitat and the PP of the Valencian Community in his own stronghold. The one who was leader of the municipal council between 2003 and 2011 celebrated the act at the Juan XXIII restaurant in Alicante after his demanding speech, the supporters and activists of the PP were charged 35 euros for the cover.
Camps, who chaired the Generalitat between 2003 and 2011, the year he dismissed costume cases, Since he was absolved in 2012, he returned to complain about the convening of the regional congress of the PPCV, he assured that he did not envisage the scenario of an indefinite applause of it and concreted that it should be celebrated in “March, April or, as very late, in June”.
The one who was also leader of the Valencian PP ignored the need to “start talking about 2027” because today it is “nadie” who is doing it. “There is not a single activist who says he wants to be president of the party or the next president of the Generalitat. I am the only one to say it openly, to say that he has a model for the future and the only one to say that he can win with an absolute majority.”
“We must regain pride in our way of understanding the Valencian and Spanish Community and defend a project open to the whole world and which has allowed, on the ground, to win if we do not do things well. And I am ready to do it, I do other things, like winning or granting, for the PP. I believe that my candidacy is the best”, the former president stressed.
Camps called for an open congress where activists could vote without limits, including activists who had not paid their dues and who were unhappy with the way it worked. The former president pledged to mobilize all activists, opening new PP headquarters throughout the territory “which are closed in municipalities, counties and districts”.
The politician assured that he had a very advanced community project. “I am the only one who openly says that I want to be the candidate for the presidency of the party, who wants to be a candidate for the presidency of the Generalitat, who presents a campaign team, the only one who has a model for the future from 2027 and who really believes that he can win with an absolute majority.”
The ex-president defended that the PP suffers when it does not lead, “when it goes behind what others say. The PP must return to directing the discourse of the Community because in those moments it does not lead”, he declared without mentioning Vox. “We must correct this immediately” and decide “that we aspire to an absolute majority.”
Camps spoke prepared for three possible electoral scenarios: adelanto de los comícios en la Comunidad Valenciana, que caiga el Gobierno de España —“Ojalá”, he has an inciso — and if he decides to make the autonomous elections coincide with certain generals. What ends in the legislature and elections is in 2027. The sequel, presented to his team, of 20 young people and without public office, and a project that pivots around the celebration of open conventions dedicated to employment, housing, water or infrastructure, among others.
The Mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, showed her respect for the Camps project and insisted that it is time to work for Valencia and the Valencian Community, “you will arrive at the time of the leaders or the legitimate personal ambitions of each one”.
The president of the Provincial PP of Valencia and the Diputación, Vicente Mompó, moved to Camps to await the process of the internal congress of the PP and later the electoral process. “It’s time. Now is the time to be all together, and it’s been a lot of time to put in. We need to make a breakthrough, we come from complicated times, there is a lack of management and reconstruction. When the congress comes, the activists will decide,” he said.
