Frequent absences during the swearing-in of elected representatives

Hilda Cogan presents the diploma to Juan M. Osaba/Brekovic of La Plata

The new representatives who were elected in the regional legislative elections that took place on September 7 were sworn in yesterday. The striking fact is that at least 21 out of the 46 who were supposed to participate were missing from the ceremony. The majority belong to Fuerza Patria, La Libertad Avanza, Hechos, FIT and Somos Buenos Aires.

The ceremony was presided over by the President of the Electoral College and President of the Supreme Court of Buenos Aires, Hilda Cogan.

Elected representatives Ariel Archanco, Lucía Iañez and Martin Malbelli from Forza Patria did it for our city; and Juan Osaba, Francisco Adorni and Julieta Quintero Chasman for the alliance between La Libertad Avanza and PRO.

As of 10 December, there were 37 deputies from the Union for the Fatherland (UxP), and 13 from the PRO; 12 of the progress of freedom; 9 of UCR + Federal Stock Exchange; 6 About us Buenos Aires; 6 others from Union and Liberty; 3 of Nuevos Aires; 3 from the Civil Coalition; Two from the left and one from the popular right.

With the inauguration of the new legislators, there will be 39 seats for Fuerza Patria, 31 for the coalition between La Libertad Avanza and PR, 4 for Union y Libertad, 4 for UCR+Cambio Federal, 3 for Somos Buenos Aires, 3 for Facts, 3 for Union, Renovación y Fe, 2 for the Civic Coalition, 2 for the Left Front. And 1 for popular right.

The panorama shows growth for the ruling party which has added two additional seats and strong growth for the Liberals who will gain 19 additional deputies. On the other hand, the political force created by Santiago and Manuel Basalia stands out, namely Hicos, based in San Nicolas, which will have a bloc of 3 legislators. The left retains two deputies.

The Radical Civic Union (which formed the Somos Buenos Aires alliance with the Civic Coalition) has been dealt a major blow, as its two blocs in the House of Representatives will shrink significantly. From 15 deputies, it will rise to 7 legislators as of December 10.

In the Senate

Yesterday, the certificates of the 23 regional senators elected in September were also handed over. Although in this case there were no representatives of our city, which will renew the current representatives only in 2027.

In the Senate, Fuerza Patria will have 24 seats, the coalition between La Libertad Avanza, PRO 16, Union y Libertad 3 and Somos Buenos Aires will have 2 and the UCR 1.
