The situation of absence of legal proceedings has lasted barely five days since Vicente Fernández Guerrerothe man from Malaga who assumed the presidency of the State company of industrial participations (SEPI) by the hand of Maria Jesus Monterothe current vice-president of … Government, Minister of Finance and leader of the PSOE in Andalusia. Last Friday, a court of the Court of Seville acquitted him in the case of the alleged rigging of the allocation of the exploitation of the Aznalcóllar mine. Last Wednesday he was arrested with Leire Diezthe PSOE plumber, by agents of the Civil Guardsleeping behind bars in the offices of the Armed Institute.
Concretely, the day before yesterday, members of the Central Operational Unit (COU)as part of the investigation into Court number 6 of the National Court which remains subject to summary secrecy and is managed by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Fernández and Díez were arrested for allegations of illegalities in public contracts awarded to certain companies between 2021 and 2023.
And a day after the arrests, which in recent hours were joined by that of Antxón Alonso (associate of Santos Cerdán in Servinabar), the agents carried out searches in companies linked to these people with links, in one way or another, with the PSOE and the government of Pedro Sánchez.
The relationship of Vicente Fernández and María Jesús Montero comes from far away. In June 2018, after his appointment as finance minister, Montero put him at the helm of the Spanish state conglomerate that manages stakes in strategic companies such as Correos, Navantia, RTVE and EFE. He only spent fifteen months in power, since in October 2019 he resigned after being indicted in connection with the Aznalcóllar case, from which he was exonerated last Friday.
His accusation in this case was due to his management at the head of the General Secretariat of Innovation, Industry and Energy of the Junta de Andalucía (2012-2016) in the government of Susana Díaz, a period during which the public procedure for awarding the exploitation of the mine took place.
Between February 2016 and June 2018, still with Montero, he was once Treasury AdvisorFernández served as auditor general of the Junta de Andalucía, the supreme body of internal control and public accounting for the economic management of the administration and all its instrumental entities, which in 2018 managed a budget close to 35 billion euros.
After his indictment in the Aznalcóllar affair, this law graduate from the University of Seville found a place for a year and a half in Servinabarthe Navarrese company of Antxon Alonso and Santos Cerdán and which, according to the UCO, is at the epicenter of the public procurement corruption plot in which two former secretaries of the PSOE organization, Cerdán and José Luis Ábalos, and his advisor Koldo García are under investigation.
Five days after receiving with relief the acquittal in the mining case, Vicente Fernández, of whom María Jesús Montero now says I don’t know anything of him since he left SEPI, is once again under the weight of a police investigation.
