The PSOE is experiencing its lowest hours, the case of sexual harassment and the corruptiontwo flagship slogans of the socialist party, plunge Ferraz into a black hole. Last week, federal leaders held an emergency telematics meeting with … the regional Equality secretaries to deal with the internal crisis, during the meeting several leaders expressed their discomfort with the management of harassment complaints.
Paco Salazar affair
The episode with which the season opened was Francisco Salazar, advisor very close to Moncloa, who has been singled out in multiple internal complaints from activists and collaborators. At least two victims filed complaints in July, alleging they were victims of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior by Salazar. These requests were handled via an internal harassment channel available to the party, an anonymous system to deal with these cases.
THE internal criticism of procedural failures Because they allegedly hid the existence of these complaints for months, this generated tensions within the PSOE. Equality officials expressed their dissatisfaction with the way the whole matter had been handled and, after their statements, Ferraz admitted that they had not been “up to the task” and apologized to the victims. Government spokesperson Pilar Alegría met him when she was already aware of the protests of several women against sexual harassment. He now recognizes that it was a “mistake” to have eaten with him after knowing the content of the claims. Salazar is no longer a member of the PSOE and does not hold any position.
Dismissal of PSOE leader in Torremolinos
The Salazar case follows that of the secretary general of the PSOE in Torremolinos, an activist denounced at the end of November Antonio Navarro for a series of very explicit sexual messages he sent her via WhatsApp. THE Malaga Prosecutor’s Office against violence against women opened preliminary proceedings against him. After that, the PSOE agreed to open a disciplinary file and temporarily suspend him from activism, even if Antonio Navarro remains clinging to his public positions.
Resignation of José Tomé, president of the Provincial Council of Lugo
Following the chronology of the cases, we learned the following week that six women reported having been victims of sexual harassment by the president of the Provincial Delegation of Lugo and mayor of Monforte, José Tomé. The show “Code 10” on Cuatro highlighted the stories of several victims: “You are offered work in exchange for a price, you can become a civil servant or temporary worker in exchange for sex.” The complainants denounce “disgusting” attitudes, with “totally inappropriate comments” and even “unauthorized touching”.
After learning of the complaint, Tomé called a press conference to defend himself, during his speech he announced that he was presenting his “voluntary” resignation as president of the Provincial Council of Lugo, he crossed out the “false” complaints and affirmed his innocence.
Resignation of Javier Izquierdo, member of the PSOE executive
This is the latest resignation from the ranks of the PSOE following complaints of sexual harassment. The Secretary of Studies and Programs of the Federal Executive of the PSOE presented his resignation this Thursday evening in a mysterious message in X in which he does not clarify the reasons. The announcement came minutes after ‘Eldiario.es’ published the existence of a fourth complaint for alleged sexual harassment, this time directed against Izquierdo.
After years in public and organic positions within my party, I informed the federal leadership of my resignation as a member of the CEF and also as a senator.
I do it to cope with other professional and personal tasks, sure that there will be someone who will do it better.
Always grateful. 🌹

The public denounces the harassers
A dozen PSOE women plan to publicly denounce their harassers, as ABC learned this week. The victims identify four specific men occupying positions in two territorial federations or in the Federal Executive; the events date back to the last decade.
The reported episodes range from “racy messages, indecent propositions in and out of the workplace, promises of position in exchange for sex and even videos with explicit sexual content.”
