Fuvest presented this Sunday (14) to the candidates the theme “Is forgiveness an act that can be conditioned or limited?” while writing the entrance exam. The proposal was part of the first day of the second phase of the exam, which also included ten discursive questions in Portuguese, literature and grammar.
In this edition, in addition to essay-argumentative writing, candidates could choose to produce a letter-type text, defined at the time of the test. The choice between two genres debuted during this entrance exam and is part of the new writing model adopted by Fuvest.
In the alternative proposal, the candidate must write a letter addressed to a fictitious person who has unfairly accused him of morally reprehensible behavior, explaining the reasons why he granted or withheld forgiveness.
The complementary collection brought together literary, journalistic and artistic texts, including a chronicle published in Leaf— which approach the subject from different perspectives, including extracts from works of fiction, poetry, music, a journalistic image and an analytical text, used as a basis for reflection.
The writing assistance texts were:
-
“A Nazi officer’s plea sparks reflection on the limits of forgiveness,” by Juliana de Albuquerque, published in Leaf;
-
“Tudo é Rio”, by Carla Madeira;
-
the poem Mar Novo, by Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen;
-
photo “Ceasefire in Gaza allows people to return home,” by Abdel Kareem Hana/AP;
-
the song “Tá Perdoado”, by Arlindo Cruz;
-
an extract from the book Iaiá Garcia, by Machado de Assis.
For the educational analyst of the Redação Nota 1000 platform, Amanda Rodrigues, the subject maintains an affinity with Fuvest’s profile by proposing an open reflection, without a single answer or immediate practical solution. According to her, the discussion allows both to defend conditioned forgiveness and unlimited forgiveness, in addition to analyzing the consequences of the act of forgiving – or not forgiving – in individual and social relationships.
Rodrigues believes that, since it is an abstract subject, the candidate’s challenge was to connect the concept of forgiveness to concrete situations, such as family conflicts, social injustices, violence, cancellations on social networks, international conflicts and even the amnesty law in Brazil. She also highlights the similarity with the simulation theme applied by Fuvest this year, which addressed interpersonal relationships and communication.
On the first day, the essay counts for 50 points and the ten questions on Portuguese language, literature and grammar together are worth 50 points.
A total of 30,787 candidates qualified for the second phase. The exams are held in 680 rooms in 36 schools in 22 cities in the capital, the metropolitan region, the interior and the coast of São Paulo.
The gates were opened at noon and closed at 1 p.m., when the race began. The maximum resolution time is four hours per day.
