Atlético-MG is about to define the permanent stay of defender Vitor Hugo for the coming seasons. According to information from journalist André Hernan, the Minas Gerais club is finalizing the final details to formalize a two-year contract with the defender, who belongs to Bahia.
Vitor Hugo arrived at Galo on loan at the start of the season, at the request of Cuca, then the team’s coach. Although he started the year as an option in the team, the defender gained importance after the change of technical command and consolidated himself as a starter under the direction of Jorge Sampaoli, finishing the season on a good note.
At 34 years old, the defender played 34 matches with Atlético-MG in 2025, including 29 starts, and scored four goals, figures that reinforced the positive assessment of the technical commission and management regarding his continuity in the team.
Hired by Bahia in 2023, Vitor Hugo failed to establish himself in the tricolor jersey and accumulated loans. In addition to his time at Atlético-MG, the defender also played for Panathinaikos, Greece, in 2024. In total, he played 31 matches for Esquadrão de Aço.
For the moment, only the final adjustments remain between Atlético-MG and Bahia to definitively conclude the negotiation. It is hoped that the agreement will be signed in the coming days, guaranteeing the defender’s permanence in the black and white team for the continuation of the sporting project.
