The founder of Mercadolibre, Macros Galperin, spoke sharply this Sunday about the terrorist attack in the Australian capital Sydney during celebrations of a Jewish holiday in which eleven people were killed and 29 injured.
“Welcome to the new Multicultural and diverse Australia” he wrote on his X account, posting a video showing the two gunmen shooting during the celebration of a Jewish holiday on Sydney’s Bondi Beach.
Minutes later, he retweeted another post of a diptych photo showing one of them suspected shooters and the tennis player Novak Djokovic accompanied by the comment: “One of these men has been banned from entering Australia”, in a clear criticism of the athlete’s deportation from the country in 2022 because of his anti-vaccination stance at the Australian Open.
The government argued at the time that their stay there posed a threat to public health.
Terrorist attack
Two gunmen shot dead 10 people on Bondi Beach, Sydney this Sunday during the celebration of a Jewish holiday. Police killed one of the attackers and called it a “terrorist incident.” Another 29 people were injured and the second shooter was arrested, ABC reported, citing a police spokesman at the scene.
The country’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese issued a statement deploring the “shocking and disturbing scenes” in Bondi, confirming injuries following the incident and calling an urgent meeting of his security cabinet.
“Police and emergency services are working on the scene to save lives. My condolences go out to all those affected. We are working with New South Wales Police and will provide further updates as further information is confirmed,” he said.
