The narrator’s historic first appearance on SBT occurs during the broadcast of the group stage draw for the 2026 World Cup

“Here’s the thing, let me say something for the first time, the World Cup has started, right? So here it comes, ‘Football on SBT: Brazil is playing here’,” confirmed the communications professional.
In addition, Galvão Bueno was also present with Galvão Bueno, also former Globo star Thiago LeVert, who was responsible for inviting him to the stage at the beginning of the broadcast. In fact, another symbolic moment occurred at the beginning of the broadcast, when the narrator thanked the band.
Today I have the happiness of debuting on SBT. I want to thank the band and my friend Johnny Saad. I have a contract there until December 31st, and from January 1st we are here together. Johnny, kiss and thank you very much for the release,” highlighted the history of professional communications.
This, in fact, also marks the first time that the broadcaster has narrated an edition of the World Cup outside Globo since 1974. In all, he has been present in 13 consecutive editions, from 1974 to 2022, of the main national team competition. Shortly after his last participation in the World Cup, he announced his departure from the Marinho family broadcaster.
Galvão Bueno will fulfill the contract with the band
Despite his debut on SBT, the narrator will officially remain with the group until December 21. He will continue to lead Galvão e Amigos for the next two Mondays, fulfilling his entire schedule before the final move to the new channel.
Behind the scenes of the SBT agreement to broadcast World Cup matches
The narrator’s access to SBT is directly linked to the package acquired by the broadcaster for the 2026 World Cup. The company purchased the broadcast rights for the tournament in partnership with NSports, of which the broadcaster is one of the partners.
According to Folha de S. Paulo, the combined investment amounted to $25 million – approximately R$134.5 million – to ensure a package of 32 matches. Negotiations with FIFA started with higher values, but declined after progress in the talks. The channel’s initial projection was for 54 games.
