The Minister of Emergencies and Interior, Juan Carlos Valderrama, chaired this Saturday at the Emergency Coordination Center of the Generalitat a coordination meeting with all organizations and institutions competent in emergencies and security to monitor and adopt the necessary measures in response to the episode of intense rains and storms in the Valencian Community.
The Emergency Coordination Center currently has the following alerts active: orange level rain alert throughout the province of Valencia; orange level storm warning across the entire Valencia coast; yellow level rain alert throughout Castellón and Alicante; warning of yellow level storms in the interior of Valencia and in the provinces of Castellón and Alicante.
The expected start time of the weather episode, according to the forecasts of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), is at 00:00 tomorrow, December 14. In this regard, the Minister of Emergencies and Interior explained that “this is an orange warning for accumulated rain, for rain accumulated in 12 hours, which can even exceed 170 liters per square meter.” For this reason, Valderrama pointed out that “we could also be in red notice at any time, because it is 180 liters per square meter” and added that “the accumulation can cause rapid filling of channels and ravines, so we must be attentive at all times to these situations.”
The head of Emergencies and the Interior reported that there has been “a strengthening of the essential devices of both the Provincial Fire Consortia, the Prevention, Fire Extinguishing and Rescue Services (SPEIS) and the 1·1·2 in view of the possibility that there will be an accumulation of rain, as I have commented, of importance”.
The councilor clarified that “the recommendation is that they reduce mobility and only carry out essential trips”, and that “they also do not cross ravines and river beds, even if there is no water at that time”. In addition, as Juan Carlos Valderrama explains, one must be particularly careful “with outdoor activities as well as with portable installations.”
This is why the Emergency Coordination Center today published a new special notice inviting municipalities in which outdoor activities are practiced during the days that the episode lasts to take preventive and protective measures regarding activities that are particularly vulnerable to this type of phenomena, such as Christmas markets, sports activities, cultural events or any other event with removable or temporary elements.
Valderrama also stressed the importance of “being particularly vigilant in the dana zero zone” due to the presence of “machines that operate in ravines and canals.” In this sense, the councilor explained that “a special notice was sent to remove any machinery that could be affected”.
Finally, Valderrama recommended that citizens obtain information through official channels such as the 112 website, www.112cv.gva.es; the X network @GVA112 or via the GVA 112 Notices application (available on Google Play and App Store). Municipalities can access the “Guide to recommendations for town halls to make preventive decisions in the event of adverse weather phenomena” through the following link:

The President of the Valencian Government, Juan Francisco Pérez Llorca, called for caution through his social networks: “The Emergency Coordination Center has issued orange alerts for rain and storms in the province of Valencia and yellow alerts for rain and storms in the provinces of Castellón and Alicante. The start of the alert is scheduled for 14/12/2025 at 00:00.
