MADRID, December 23 (EUROPA PRESS) –
German authorities said Tuesday that there is no evidence indicating that the accident recorded Monday in the town of Giessen, in the state of Hesse, which left three people injured, supports the theory according to which it was a terrorist attack.
“At present, no reliable information can be provided on the exact motive for the crime, as the suspect only made inconsistent statements shortly after his arrest,” local police said in a statement.
Thus, it was clarified that the 32-year-old driver changed lanes and hit a parked vehicle at high speed, which then hit a bus stop, seriously injuring a 64-year-old woman.
The man continued his route, partly on the sidewalk, injuring two other people, before hitting another vehicle, at which point he was arrested. The suspect, born in Azerbaijan, lives in Giessen and is under investigation for attempted murder, traffic violations and serious bodily injury.
Likewise, they also pointed out that there are indications that he suffers from acute psychosis, which is why they requested that he undergo psychiatric analysis. “Please understand that, for reasons related to the ongoing investigation, no further information can be provided at this time,” he concluded.
