A woman lost her life this Thursday after being swept away by a wave on Cuncheiras beach, in the town of Pontevedra, Baiona.
According to 112 Galicia, around 2:35 p.m. an individual alerted the emergency center of … that a woman She was on some rocks near the sandy area and had just seen how the water was carrying her away and she couldn’t see it anymore.
With this information, the operators of the Integrated Emergency Care Center of Galicia (CIAE-112) informed the Maritime Rescue, the Gardacostas Service of Galicia, the Local Police, the GES of Valmiñor and the Civil Guard.
A few minutes later, another person contacted 112 to warn that there was a body lying on the beach and, later, emergency services confirmed that it was indeed the woman.
Sources consulted by Europa Press specified that the victim was on the beach taking photos when was swept away by a wave.
This Thursday, the General Directorate of Emergencies maintains an active orange alert throughout the Galician coast due to heavy rain and wind.
La Xunta recalled the importance of staying away from the coastline and requests extreme security measures when carrying out any activity at sea and when controlling boat moorings and moorings.
