Gkay remembers the financial crisis: “I was in need”

Influencer Gessica Kayane, 33, has become a partner with actress Deborah Secco, 46, in thrift store franchise Peça Rara. Based on Avenida Rebouças, in São Paulo, she gave up around 4,000 items from her personal collection, including bags, shoes and clothing.

The “financial movement” is another Gkay initiative that aims to combine the taste of fashion with the purpose of entrepreneurship. “I’m at a new point in my life, right? And then I decided to diversify my business. I’m passionate about clothing and now joining a circular fashion project has everything to do with me,” she said in an exclusive interview with Earth.

In addition to the thrift store franchise, the influencer is also a partner in a company focused on healthy eating. Asked about her reasons for accepting partnership proposals, she cited a few crucial points. “I am a public person who depends on my image, so every partnership I undertake is based on market research and the product. It also has to be a high-quality product, because my name is involved,” he explained.

“I like different segments, of course which enrich my career, because it is very multifaceted. I am a multifaceted person, so there is nothing more consistent with my story than having several business fronts,” he added.

Financial Mistakes and Humble Past

Coming from humble beginnings, Gkay had no financial education at the start of his career – something he had to learn over time. She acknowledges that she has made mistakes along the way and suffered losses, but views the episodes as learning. One of the biggest lessons, she said, was how to ask for help. Currently, it has a specialized team to manage its assets. Although this may seem like outsourcing, it ensures that the final decision is yours.

“No one achieves anything alone. I have a very good financial team, which supports me, does all the research, makes the projects viable. The final decision, of course, is up to me, but without a prepared team, none of this would be possible. I really appreciate the professionals who work with me. My accounting and legal teams help me every day,” he said.

Then, the influencer reflected on her career. “It is a privilege to have achieved everything I have and, for this reason, I help my disciples to also realize their dreams by following my example and my story. I come from Paraíba, I am a woman who had no financial means, who had great need for her family, I was very humble, and today being able to tell all of Brazil that I achieved all this is the heart of my career.”

Besides recognizing the importance of asking for help, another lesson learned from mistakes is patience. “One mistake I would say not to make is haste: lack of patience. I was an impatient person and today I learned that business is patient, business is calm, step by step. Achievements come with time and dedication,” he said.

Even by investing in the aspect of a female entrepreneur, Gkay does not intend to limit herself. She guarantees that she has no plans to retire from content production, fashion or carnival. On the contrary, for her, one thing does not cancel out the other. “Tomorrow I may decide to slow down a bit, because as you get older you also learn a lot of things in life. But still wait for a multiple GK, which is not limited.”
